The city of Bijapur traces its History of more
than 2000 years. Apart from world famous Golgumbaz
and Ibrahim Rouza, Bijapur has more 'A' class

colleges, two Engineering Colleges, one Architecture
college and four medical colleges of Indian system
of medicines a Dental and a nursing college and
four Polytechnics. There is also a P.G. Centre
of Karnataka University Dharwad and Visveswaraiah
Technological University is only 6 hours distance
from Bijapur.
In addition, a number of regular degree and junior
colleges are functioning in every locality. A
full fledged women's university is established
and has started functioning from 2003-04.
